Well, this update came a lot longer after I intended. Food seems to be approaching the previous near-great level. Ratios on my Norsk omelette were a bit off, but it was a lot closer than last time. We were fortunate to get one of the perennially solid wait staff and she did her usual good job. I watched the other ones and it seems they did a pretty ok job as well. The lame-o we got that was such trouble is no longer there. This is still not a place to go if you're in any kind of hurry, though. One change I noticed, besides the stretched canvas art on the walls that replaced the black and white framed photos, is to the hash browns and it is a happy one. Either they got a new chef or the owners, who were there today, stuffed their footwear up someone's backside. Either way, this seems to be mostly back on track, which I'm grateful to see...I missed having it as a stop in the rotation on the circuit. They have also added a new specials menu, but I was craving the Norsk omelette, after having been away for so long, I couldn't resist it. My wife had a very pedestrian 2 eggs breakfast and they seemed to have done a good job on the eggs. My kid's pancake was cooked a little odd, but he seemed to like it for the most part. Good job to the team and here's hoping they make another step to get back to the former glories!

Today, I had brunch at Finn's after having passed this place about a hundred times, having lived in Sugarhouse for years. French toast was about as good as can be expected of something so simple. Honestly, maybe not worth $8.62 + tip. I know the other people in my party enjoyed their meals, and the service was good. Soundtrack is really great though! Some of the best music I've heard passively like this.

This place is great. Their coffee is delicious, they have great attention to detail in their food. The servers are laid back and friendly while still being attentive. It's a tad on the expensive side, but where else can you get perfectly poached trout and eggs? Delicious.

My husband and I will be driving home from our summer vacation in Coronado. Haven't been home in 3 months and I can't wait for my first meal back at Finn's. If you have not been for a weekend breakfast this is the time to go. We will see you there. I hope they still have chicken and waffles.

I ordered the eggs benedict. Their hollandaise sauce is not the run of the mill sauce, it was great. I've never had an eggs benedict that was so balanced and flavorful. I can taste the eggs, Canadian bacon, sauce distinctly but the flavor also came together in a balanced way. I was impressed. It also wasn't heavy either. Definitely coming back to try other stuff on the menu!

Super cute little place to eat. I went on a Sunday at around 2 and it wasn't crowded. we got a seat outside. Pretty much the perfect patio. The food portions are small but maybe Finn's is just trying to keep the city smaller? I appreciate that because then i don't overeat. My food was actually not great. I ordered the chicken and waffle and it was palatable but id never order it again. I think this place is more for omelettes or something with fish or lobster. The coffee on the other hand was very good. I really want to love this place so any suggestions on whats good?

The ambiance, price point, and food were great, unfortunately the service was not. I want to give this more stars bc I really did enjoy the outdoor patio area, but a simple brunch took almost two hours bc the service was so slow. We sat at our table and waited just to be greeted by someone for about fifteen minutes. Once we finally were able to ask someone to bring waters and diet cokes it took about another ten minutes, and we were given four waters for five people, then waited another ten minutes for the last water and sodas. Sitting and waiting for 30+ minutes just for water was really disappointing. Once we placed our food orders it didn't seem to take too long, however our drinks were empty and a few items we had requested (syrup, butter, etc) weren't delivered. When I politely asked for these things the woman who delivered our food (not our server) seemed to be annoyed I was asking for so many things. I felt badly asking for so many things, but typically one doesn't have to ask for drink refills or condiments which typically go with toast. It was about 90 degrees that day so maybe we were all drinking faster than usual, but it was really disappointing to continually have to flag someone down for refills. Our server was really sweet and I never like to leave less than 20% tip bc I know there are things out of the server's control. But I felt the need to write up this review in hopes someone will take note. The food was delicious and as I mentioned the ambiance was great. There was also ample parking. I think Finn's has real potential, if only we weren't so thirsty.

A decent option for brunch in SLC. The lines to get a table are more reasonable than places like Ruths Diner and Park cafe. Nice bright and white interior. I got the special omelette of the day and really enjoyed it. My friends liked the trout but the tortilla special looked uninviting and colorless. Well made espresso's can be made here. The service could have been faster and more attentive but was ok.

The service here can be a little slow but the staff are nice and the food is fantastic and original.

  • Topher W.

Umm...you get what you pay for and it has some of the best service in town. Don't expect the best, trendiest food ever but expect a great meal, breakfast is the way to go! Hip spot and its good with kids.

  • Caitlin K.

Food was good and the prices were decent. The place was swamped when we went, and our server was still punctual with getting our order in and getting it to our table. The French toast seemed like it could have spent another minute on the grill (it was cooked all the way, but not very browned) and the french fries we also needed another minute in the fryer (a tad underdone), but my husband really enjoyed his Reuben and the French toast was still quite tasty. There are definitely a lot more items on the menu that we are interested in trying and we would come back (though, perhaps not late morning on a Sunday).

Having lived a year in Norway, I didn't find anything to be too authentic, and I wasn't very impressed with the food. It's so-so food.

  • Jake T.

This place remind me of a nice little restaurant you'd find in the chaos of west Los Angeles. This place is just as quaint, has amazing food, a lot less people, and it's only a fraction of the price for what you'd find in CA. Highly recommend!

Okay, after some much needed reevaluating following my most recent visit, I've decided to change my tune. While Finn's is still not my ideal breakfast place, (I'm biased, I do like places that are a bit grittier) I cannot deny that there are several standouts of my last meal that have me thinking my 2 star rating was...harsh. I had the feta and olive omelet, which was very much standard and wouldn't warrant anything above a decent. However, the side dishes such as the hash browns and the bread, delicious. That bread particularly. Considering they bake it themselves, I wouldn't expect it to be anything less than mind blowing. It's almost worth coming back to FInn's simply for that rye bread. That and the coffee, good coffee. But still, not huge on the prices. Simply put, I feel I can get better breakfast food for cheaper prices, elsewhere. Finn's is worth the occasional visit, and if you're someone who seeks out a clean and pristine brunch/breakfast experience, I would recommend it.

I love their Scandinavian menu. The trout breakfast is great. It can be very busy at times however.

I had a really enjoyable brunch at Finn's. From the modern, clean, northern European decor, to the servers who ensure your coffee cup or water glass is never empty, to the delicious food, you really can't go wrong. What I think makes Finn's special is the twist on the regular brunch menu. Sure, you can get eggs, potatoes and meat, but the Norwegian dishes, like Pyttipanna (a mix of beef, vegetables, and eggs), Scandinavian Breakfast (Red trout with potatoes) and Scandinavian pastries gives some away-from-the-norm options. I've only had the trout, but it was delicious. Plenty of vegetarian options, too, from a tofu scramble, to sweet bread products, to veggie eggs benedict. The wife and I shared the Jule Kake French Toast as a dessert -- and they brought us out a small portion, for less money, than the full entree size. It was perfect, sweet, cinnamon-y, with unique spices and raisins to kick it up a notch. I can't wait to go back to try the other menu offerings (sourdough pancakes, waffles, shrimp omlette), and it should be on the top of the list for brunch places in SLC.

I think this is very fantastic breakfast food. I have tried the special chorizo avocado omelette, French toast, pyittipana, Flank steak and eggs, and various veggie omelette. Scandinavian breakfast with trout is also highly recommended. Delicious toast and jam. Coffee- near perfect. They always refill my coffee well so I find myself just sitting and relaxing sipping the last cup before heading up to pay at the front exit. Lovely when sitting outside. I think the price is fine as well, to me what's received feels loaded with quality and I always finish the whole portion. Lots of places my plate comes loaded with filler, here I get plenty of the main focus, all ingredients in balance!

Definetely a good eggs benedict. I am a breakfast connoisseur, and this place definetely had what I was looking for. The service was great, food came out promptly and tasted divine. A little pricey, but isn't all good breakfast? I mean this isn't McDonalds value menu.

    (4)
  • Heidi M.

Hipster dive that makes you feel like you are walking in to a hospital. They wear all white and the waitresses look like nurses. With that being said, I've never had better Egg Benedict's or a Reuben sandwich. Their fingerling fries are also the bomb.

    (4)
  • Sami W.

The wait was loooonngg but worth it. The wait was primarily waiting for others to finish eating, the staff wasnt slow. It was fun watching the staff work because they were a great team and were very consistent. Very good, professional vibe. The food was very tasty! Reasonable prices and good sized servings. Much enjoyed!

My absolute favorite place for breakfast in Sugarhouse. The hubs and I frequented this adorable cafe several times while we lived SLC. We've tasted several entrees and our favorite would have to be the omelets, delicious! Their coffee is also very delicious. Food 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 (Very bright and cheery inside) Service 5/5 (The staff obviously enjoy working there) Price 5/5 (Worth it)

Fantastic patio for a relaxing breakfast. Service is always friendly. Food is pretty good, but the atmosphere is worth the trip. Try their jam if you have toast.

Reuben was ok, but fries were DYNAMITE. Small portions. Get the fries on whatever you order

You can get yourself a damn fine breakfast at Finn's Cafe. I did! The patio is small, but if you're lucky enough to get a seat out there, it's fabulous. The service is great! Their breakfast/brunch menu has some cool European delights on it that you don't find in your typical diner. Overall, I was impressed with Finns in just about every way. Yum!

  • Kate M.

After noticing a long line at another favorite breakfast spot, we decided to give Finn's another shot. While the wait was similar to the last time we've been there, the service was better. Still seemed to be understaffed, but they checked on us to make sure we had what we needed. The food arrived and was much better than last time. We got the correct orders and it was nice and hot. I can't say that this will become my first go-to spot for Sunday breakfast, but I might hit it up again sometime.

  • Allison M.

What a great spot for breakfast! The patio and restaurant are small, and it does get crowded, but it is definitely worth it! I tried the Pyttipanna, which is beef, diced potatoes, carrots and onions, topped with a poached egg. Not something I would normally order, but the table of 4 next to us all had plates of Pyttipanna served to them just as we sat down. It looked fabulous! And it was! Soooo good! The service and staff were on point as well! My coffee was refilled before I even noticed it needed to be! The atmosphere is very charming as well! I can't wait to try Finn's out for lunch!

Best Breakfast I've had in the city yet. Price is right, perfect portions and great taste. There are classic favorites and unique new dishes to try. Omelets are fluffy and delightful. Chicken and waffles are the bomb. If you're looking for the perfect lazy morning breakfast out- go to Finns!

  • Robin A.

I was anticipating this to be much better than it was, the place is really cute and decorated nice and the staff were great but the food was just so so, I had the eggs benadict and it was lacking in hollandaise sauce, the hash Browns were really greasy and just lacked flavor. I feel for the price you pay and the long wait the food should be amazing...

  • Ryan W.

Best place for breakfast in SLC! I get the Eggs Benedict. They close at 2 pm. Don't forget to grab a apple on the way out. I've eaten here many times and have never had a bad experience.

The food is exquisite and I have been going to Finn's for over thirty years. However last year during a busy breakfast, Finn himself asked our table to leave after an hour because it was so busy. Finn, move into a larger establishment. Even if you do, we are never coming back.

Love Finns! Great atmosphere, perfectly cooked crispy bacon, DELISH French toast and sourdough pancakes, and I love their lattes. Friendly, clean, and good prices.

Came by for the shorter wait since Park Cafe and others were all packed, and so glad we did. Great atmosphere, service, and coffee, along with unique and tasty breakfast foods. Had the pittypana, poached egg with potatoes, carrots, and onions. Chicken and waffles and the jule kake French toast were also well received at our table. Amazingly clear glass windows make you feel outside, and friendly service capped it off. Will save myself the drive to the crowded places next time and head here first.

Yummy, great price, and relaxing. While waiting there is coffee sitting out for you to enjoy. The patio was nice, and the tables were clean. My husband and I loved our food. He got the chicken and waffles, and I got a feta and chorizo omelette. I did not try his chicken and waffles, but he loved them. He did not love the chicken and waffles as much as my omelette. My omelette had feta, chorizo, tomatoes, green onion, and avocado. While it was a wonderful flavor combination, the eggs tasted like the pre mixed scramble eggs you get from village inn. That not a compliment. I think they should use actual eggs. Other than that it was great and we will be back.

  • Kathryn B.

Great service and lovely atmosphere. We sat outside and it was so relaxing. My husband had the chicken and waffles while I had the trout and eggs. My trout was a tad dry but overall it was very tasty. We'll definitely be coming back.

I love Finns. I tingle at the sight of Mrs. Finn in her traditional Scandinavian white dress, because I know soon I'm going to be noshing on poached red trout and scrambled eggs for breakfast! The raspberry jam is glistening on my homemade sourdough toast, the sunlight is streaming through crystal clear oval shaped picture windows and I am already planning my next visit back. The wienerschnitzel is hand pounded tender thin, decorated in capers and gravy, and it's yummy yummy yummy. If you try the shrimp and havarti omelet you won't be disappointed. The gazpacho is just as it should be, chunky and punchy. Heavenly hash browns are made from fresh snow white potatoes and are so refreshingly tasting of potato, not salt and grease. I forget how much I love this place!! Mr. Finn is always on hand ensuring everyone is having a great experience. Excellent coffee, and the whole staff is dressed in white, like the angels they are.

This may just be my new favorite brunch location. As you walk in Finn's as a quaint feeling about it. The walls are decorated with local artists work that are available for purchase, making you feel right at home. It isn't very large and I would not recommend trying to go with any more than 6 people. While you are waiting they have a coffee stations that you can help your self at. The first time I came here I was told that I had to try the Jule Kake, a Christmasy French toast that has delicious raisons and cardamom in it, then it is dipped in a cinnamon batter. I am not the type to go for French toast normally, but I was anything but disappointed. It was so sweet that putting anything on it was unnecessary. The second time I came here I ordered the daily special omelet with chorizo, feta, avocado and green onions. I was salivating just looking at it from the first bite right down to the last bite. Having tried my dining companions dishes (pyttipanna, eggs benedict, and the two egg breakfast) I don't think that you can go wrong it ordering here.

We've stopped by Finn's Cafe for breakfast a few times and been very pleased with the cafe. We are always greeted promptly when we walk through the door and never have to wait more than a moment for a table. Inside the cafe is really pretty with lots of varnished wood, colorful artwork on the walls and other cute decorations. There is also large windows throughout making for a very pleasant atmosphere on a nice day. Should there be space you can also ask to be seated outside (should the weather be fair.) In short, Finn's Cafe is very charming. But how is the food? I'm glad you asked. The food is good. Although the portions are on the smaller side everything I've had was well-prepared and tasted good. I'd rather have a little of something tasty then a lot of something mediocre. As Le T. pointed out sometimes the food can be a little bland, but you can spice things up yourself with some salsa or hot sauce. Overall I really like Finn's and look forward to eating there again. If you are looking for a nice place to have a good breakfast or lunch, stop on by and have Finn cook you something.

Never thought of having trout for breakfast, but boy am I glad I did! Looks like an old school diner on the outside, but has a light, airy feeling inside. Service was quick, and the menu is full of options I would like to try. Definitely try the trout as a first time.

  • Lizzy W.

Finns is very good. They tend to be quite busy on the weekends but especially Sundays. I would definitely recommend the tofu scramble, their hash browns are also great. The servers here are nice and patient. Finns is great for any day of the week!

  • Keilian M.

My favorite joint as a Salt Lake City local. If you're looking for a nice brunch date, look no further. Finn's takes the traditional breakfast cuisine to the next level with my personal favorite dish, the Chorizo & Spinach Omelet. Service is great, and the atmosphere complements the entire experience.

  • Emily B.

We had a great time at brunch last weekend. The outdoor seating was beautiful. Other guests brought their dogs, which was fun for our one year old. The tables were not conducive to a large group; they had two small round tables pushed together. We had five adults and two babies in our party. The food was average. I had an omelet and hash browns. Nothing special foodwise, but the atmosphere was really charming and pleasant. Staff was helpful and friendly.

  • Ryan C.

This was my first trip to Finn's. We showed up right in the thick of the Saturday brunch crowd and yet we were promptly sat. We were greeted by a friendly server who did a great job. I ordered the original French toast and my buddy ordered the sourdough pancakes - both were amazing! Based on this great experience, we'll be back! Great spot for brunch!

  • Baylee B.

Loved this place! Great service, and the food was super fresh. The only critique we had was that the portions were small for the price, but it was great food! Cute little gem of a brunch spot.

    (4)
  • Mara F.

LOVE this place! The price matches the quality! It is definitely one of the better breakfasts in town! The special omelette they make with the spicy choritzo and veggies and feta is out of this world! Their sour dough bread is famous so get your toast as sour dough. Their french toast... omg yum! The service is great and you can enjoy indoor or outdoor if the weather is right. Smaller place so sometimes there is a wait but its worth it!

  • Rebekah A.

Not family friendly! I dined at Finns today, and I have to say that I have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant as I was today. The owner seemed very irritated that I brought my baby to the restaurant, then made rude comments to me throughout the meal, because my baby had dropped some food on the floor. She interrupted our meal twice to sweep under our table while we were eating!

    (1)
  • T J.

I can't get over how good the Norwegian vegetable soup is! Everything I've had here has been fantastic, but that is by far my favorite. It's usually very clean and the wait staff is very attentive and friendly. The only drawback is that it can get a little loud when the dining room is full, but the food is good enough that I don't mind.

    (4)
  • Youssef T.

I have only eaten the Scandinavian breakfast which is Bomb! Its egg's, toast, hash-brown's and poached trout. Very delicious! The coffee is great compared to 99% of restaurants. The waiters are great, they are nice, on top of stuff and don't annoy you with questions and small talk. This place is a must people.

  • Cecilia L.

Looking for a new spot for brunch and stumbled upon Finn's after reading some stellar reviews on here, so we decided to check it out for ourselves. We didn't wait very long...it was great that they had coffee while you waited, and my boyfriend said the coffee was delicious. I had the Classic French Toast and it was delightful. Not too sweet and perfectly golden brown. My boyfriend had a build your own omelette and he ate every last bite. We got to sit outside on one of the first early warm days of the season and the venue was great. Great service, great food, and we will definitely go back again...we have to try out the rest of the menu! I appreciate that there are many vegetarian-friendly options on there!

  • Grace S.

Great service--very fast, even during busy brunch time on a weekend. Good quality food but I didn't enjoy the specific items my dining partner nor I ordered. I got the "fish of the day" special, which was a cod with mandarin butter (served with asparagus and fingerling potatoes). My husband ordered the eggs benedict which looked amazing (and big portion) but the hollandaise sauce tasted a little grainy and was not as refined and flavorful as we have tasted in other restaurants. I plan to return and give them another shot. I like the location and the decor.

    (4)

The eggs Benedict is my favorite. Their coffee is amazing and the staff is very friendly. Love the out door seating when it's warm outside!

Maybe I wasn't in the right state of mind to review this place, but I will stick with my 3 star review for now until I return. I was bummed out and annoyed since my husband and I got turned away from Eggs In The City 10 mins to their closing time, this place was our backup. I guess since I had seen the Park Cafe welcome patrons on the closing minute without a fuss I expected the same. But I digress.... The inside is bright, warm, and clean, everyone wears white, and while I felt a little out of place since the clientele was clearly higher class than me, I felt comfortable. Our server was fine enough, nothing too great or too poor to comment on. The reason I am giving this place such a low review is that I feel like I could have gotten more for what I paid for breakfast. It was 8 dollars for 3 pieces of french toast, and it was nothing special. I again, must be used to Park Cafe french toast foolishness which is also 8 dollars but with the addition of 2 eggs, 2 pieces of sausage, and a hefty helping of park potatoes. My husband tried the Wiener Schnitzel and loved it, so I am hoping to return for something more authentic and feels more worth the price.

Oh Finns, were would we brunch if it weren't for you? Best item on the menu hands down- chorizo/feta omelet! The only thing that could make this a 5 star dining experience would be acquiring a liquor license for the serving of mimosas! Amazingly sweet patio in the summer. Gets packed so arrive early.

  • Emad S.

Food: 3 stars, better than many but not excellent. Service: 3 stars. It was a Sunday morning, they were very busy so the wait for food was long, but our waiter was very nice. Cleanliness: 3 stars. Atmosphere: 4 stars, love the patio on a nice bright day.

This is a good breakfast place. Really good service. I had the flank steak and eggs. I want to explore other food options here. The pancakes are great! I love the feel of the place.

  • Melissa O.

I absolutely love this place. The service is great, and so is the food. One of the few restaurants I've been to that serve iced coffee (I'm an iced coffee fanatic). My roommate and I like to go for breakfast in between classes on weekdays. I don't recommend going on weekends because it does get quite packed and I don't like long waits. Overall, it's fantastic. One of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots and I'm always recommending it to friends.

    (5)
  • Steph S.

The brunch was pretty good but nothing really special. What was particularly awful was the service. I'm not one to care if my waitresses are obviously high, but our could barely function. It took her 20 min to get our drinks and she brought me cold coffee and the wrong drink for my niece. She took a while to even take our order and then got my brothers order completely wrong then ignored us the rest of the time. I understood it was busy but other tables with other waiters seemed to coming and going while we were still waiting.

As others have said, the ambiance at Finn's is one of my favorites in town. Such a cute place, sunny and bright, and couldn't be better for those days when you "call in sick" and want to grab a late breakfast. Very clean, wait staff dressed in all white to prove it, and a traditional Scandinavian menu of simple, delicious breakfast choices. I'm not sure who the porkers are reviewing Finn's, but portion sizes are way too small for these people?! I can put back some serious food, especially breakfast, but come on. I have never left this place feeling deprived. If you want gargantuan amounts of low quality food, Denny's is more your style. Finn's is always extremely fresh and tasty and they actually care about presenting it to you in an appetizing manner. They also have a great selection of vegetarian options. Maybe it's just me, but if you read my other reviews I always seem to disagree with people on places being overpriced. Finn's is no exception. You're still going to spend $10 at a chain breakfast joint, so I would rather spend that here. And you should, too.

    (5)
  • Max S.

Definitely, one of the best places for breakfast in town. I do not go there often, but when I do, I enjoy every second of it : ) Love their olives & feta omelet. Marzipan cake is great too.

  • John H.

Update - July 13, 2013 - 5 months later, we returned - our experience mirrored the first visit - I had the jule kake, daughter had the french toast, this time Mrs. H had the omelet - service was very good. This is our favorite breakfast place in SLC, hands down!

  • Rod S.

Bright and clean with Scandinavian sensibilities. Excellent food and ingredients. Warm, friendly owners. What's not to like? It appears a lot of people would say serving sizes that won't give you enough food for another meal is a problem. I love that they would rather give me good ingredients in a reasonable portion size. I've always made it to my next meal without a snack in the middle. I find the American food very good. I personally don't eat tofu and eggs whites for breakfast, but it's nice to see a place cater to a wide audience too. I really like that they provide traditional Scandinavian and low country options that probably sell less than the tofu. The poached red trout is very good and I've had excellent herring with dill sauce. Finn's knows what it wants to be and, fortunately, a lot of people appreciate it. My only negative is the small waiting area when I have to wait for a table.

  • Michelle K.

Place was packed but we got in quickly. I got the Yule Kake and friends got the Omelette Special, everyone was satisfied with the meal and prices reflect that. Service was okay. The server was your standard fake smiley twenty-something, but she forgot to offer the complimentary appetizer, which we didn't know existed until we got the check. We didn't ding the tip (that would've been mean) but we did leave a note. Will come again seeing as it's a locally-owned place with good food.

I look forward to my Saturday brunches. A lot. It's all about the experience for me, and it's really a favorite tradition among those of SLC. There are many places that offer a great brunch menu, and there are those that offer the perfect environment. But I have never seen the two so exceptionally paired together. It provides a rich environment, but without the extreme prices. The waiters give really good service, and it is very clean which is really important to me (and should be for you). The small cafe brings an air of "classic" and "quaint". There is outside dining in a small quart yard, and the windows are large so the lighting in the cafe is bright. The ambience was quiet, and it's a place that's good for all ages. I was mostly impressed with the food. They get a lot of their food locally and some of the recipes are foreign rather than the traditional American Breakfast. My partner ordered the Scandinavian Breakfast which comes with Poached Red Trout. I ordered the Vegetable Eggs Benedict, which is a classic choice for brunch. It was made with grilled tomatoes, spinach, and their own recipe of Hollandais sauce. Everything was fresh, healthy, and absolutely amazing. Great service, food, and environment and definitely on my list of places to visit many more times.

This is a pretty good cafe with good food, a little bit spendy for my taste (for breakfast) but still good. I really only go to Finn's cafe when I have a craving for their Scandinavian Breakfast - fish & eggs with hash browns and toast. Everything else on their breakfast menu is what every-other breakfast joint does, just a bit more expensive at Finns. The atmosphere is nice- bright and sunny. And they have good coffee and pastries. I like their marzipan, but again it is more expensive than other places. Overall, a good place but not one that I go to on a regular basis.

Finn's Cafe has a perfect pairing of atmosphere and cuisine for Saturday mid-morning brunch with Mom. The decor is Ikea-simple and clean. From the light wood-paneled ceiling to the wait-staff all dressed in white, down to the tiny plots of bright green grass set at each table, the place felt free & clean. The only soundtrack was patron conversation and the clinking of forks and knives. Now for the food. I love to try a sweet dish & a savory in order to taste a wide palate. Savory was the omelet of the day: Spicey chorizo, goat cheese, & shallots wrapped in a soft, fluffy-yet-not-dry egg. Potatoes and English Muffin in the side. For the sweet dish, my mom ordered the Jule Kake French Toast. Three thick slices of Norwegian Christmas bread with raisin, cardomom, citron and cinnamon - what a treat! We split both dishes and had our fill! Mom ordered English Breakfast Tea and I ordered the drip coffee of the day. Both of us were very pleased with our beverages. Finally, high compliments to the wait staff who was very prompt in filling my cup and making sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to go back!

Being that this is right down from my house. I can't believe it took me this long to try this joint out? But I am glad I finally hit it up. A nice menu that will appeal to most people; along with some unique menu items. I had the special for the day. It was a chorizo omelet with potatoes. It was cooked perfect and they also have some good coffee as well. I am sure I will come back sometime.

We like Finn's. But sometimes a neighborhood institution gets a little lazy. I think that's happened here. Our last visit (last Saturday) included: a dirty floor in the entryway, a wait for seating (despite the fact that they let a man sit at a 4-top while he waited for his party. That guy ended up needing a much bigger table so his bogarting of the 4-top just wasted the space.), a long wait both to order and to receive our food, a desultory welcome that shaded into total disregard from our waitress, and disappointingly small, spare plates. The young woman who delivered the food couldn't identify different kinds of toast. It was, as another review says, ok. Nothing special, and a pervasive sense that they couldn't handle the lunch rush and didn't care. My husband commented that the best thing about Finn's is that it's SO LOUD no one can hear you complain about the wait.

Absolutely my favorite place to eat breakfast anywhere, ever. Their coffee is phenomenal just like the whole menu. The food is fantastic, the service is friendly and the one and only drawback is the long wait because of the crowd at such a small place. But the small intimate setting is part of the charm. The cooking and baking always tastes fresh. My favorite is an omelette with some well done hash browns and sour dough toast.

My new favorite light brunch. Great American and Scandinavian breakfast and brunch served in a relaxing, quiet, and clean restaurant. The outdoor seating was great. The waiter even brought out official shims when he noticed that our table had a slight rock to it.

This diner is sure to steal your heart with its simplicity, courteous staff and yummy food. Located in Sugarhouse area its an easy stop for a nice brunch or lunch followed by some boutique browsing or trips to Sugarhouse park. The diner has a welcoming modern style with lots of windows. We sat at the best seat in the house today! The back table of the diner with a corner window. Watching the snow fall and enjoying a warm cup a jo was just what this girl needed on a Sunday off. They have plenty of vegetarian options and some vegan as well. The vegan options aren't on the menu so you will need to communicate that need with your server. They offer specialty coffee drinks like cappucinos and mochas. Try them! And take some retro photo's because they're pretty.

Finn's is fun little cafe in a classic older diner-esque building in Sugar house. I found it while driving to another SLC breakfast place and I knew it was worth a try from the packed patio at 1pm on Sunday. The place is cosy and is decorated with contemporary light woods and large windows. The patio wraps around the building and looks like it will seat almost as many people as the dining room. Although sitting against the window I had people sitting facing the windows looking right at me easting. It seemed odd having someone looking at your table right through the glass but the newspaper helped me ignore that. Although Yelp seems to list the diner as American Traditional Fare they actually are trying to go for a more Swedish food flare. And because I have no idea what a traditional Swedish breakfast I went for the most foreign sounding item on the menu, the Pyttipanna. The dish has diced beef, carrots, potatoes and onions and is topped with a poached egg. Its served with 4 tomato slices and your choice of a type of toast. I'm not usually a whole tomato person but I've been trying to be more forgiving so I chopped up the tomatoes and mixed them in with the poached egg. My first reaction other than taste, was it seems like it could have been more food for almost 10 bucks. It was an interesting taste, I enjoyed it. I would have gone with one more poached egg on top to give a little more to the dish. I also found the meat was a little tough. It may have been overcooked or maybe it was in a hot tray from earlier in the day. It didn't ruin the dish but I didn't look forward to the meat bites as much as I'd hope for. The brunch breakfast segment is a crowded one in SLC. I'd go back here but in the 10 dollar range there's other places you get more food at. Now the thing that will bring me back is the allure of the traditional Swedish fare. I'd recommend it if you're looking for something different and if you aren't looking for huge portions.

Friendly, bright and crisply clean. Comfortable outdoor and indoor seating. Best pancakes we have had. (We had a slight row over who got the last few bites). On our x-country road trip, we have chosen to eat here two mornings in a row. I belong to a Leikerringen and love the Scandinavian items as well as the rosemaling flair. Marzipan kake was good but did taste like it might had been frozen. When I had it previously it was better than the Swedish Bakery at home in Chicago.

I mainly go here for breakfast/brunch. It's great. All the classics and then some. Only been here once for lunch, and although it was extremely good, the portion did seem a bit small for the price. However, on the whole, I don't think you can go wrong with this place.

  • Natalie T.

This place isn't terrible, but it's not great either. I felt like it was just your typical, run-of-the-mill, diner-esque place. I had the vegetable omelet, which was fine, but there wasn't anything super special or exciting about it, with a side of hash browns and toast. I will say that the raspberry jam they bring for the toast was probably the yummiest part of the meal. The restaurant itself was clean, the outdoor seating was nice, and the staff were friendly. Overall, I felt like the food was okay, and the location is cute, but I'm not in any rush to go back again. There are much better places to grab in omelet in Salt Lake.

Finn's is one of Salt Lake's hidden gems. I am always amazed that people have not yet heard of it when I am suggesting breakfast spots. They do more than breakfast, but I almost always have the Eggs Benedict when I go. Often when I eat Eggs Benedict at other restaurants I want to go home and take a nap because the Hollandiase is so rich, not so at Finn's. This is by far the best Hollandiase I have ever had, fresh, light, perfection! Many people use a cheap piece of water added ham, not Finn's, this tastes like true Canadian bacon underneath. Canadian bacon is actually from the loin eye of the hog and has a very nice bite. Finn finishe up the dish with perfectly cooked hashbrowns. Finally the restaurant itself is always very clean, the waitstaff very friendly and professional and the celing is amazing to look at. Cleanliness is next to Godliness according to Sir Francis Bacon so this must be Heaven. If you are in the mood for Eggs Benedict run don't walk to Finns!

This is a fantastic family owned and operated restaurant. The Scandinavian breakfast is great, Blt sandwich is perfect and the bay shrimp sandwich makes me feel Iike I'm back in Sweden. And oh ya, the French fries are the best in town, by far

This place definitely falls under "gets the job done" for me. I've been a couple times. Most recently, we went full of enthusiasm after eating at Broder in Portland. The food at Finn's is good, don't get me wrong. There are nice touches like homemade jam. The building is attractive, reminding me of a 50's-style diner (or at least what I picture one to look like). I had an omelette, and it was fine. It just feels like (and probably is) an average breakfast diner that happens to serve some scandinavian dishes, which is a nice option to have.

Finn's is a breakfast-lunch style diner that is 5 stars on the charm and service scale. It's got a huge following and a lot of fanfare, so you're likely to be met with a line on a Saturday or Sunday. Although the staff is wonderful and the atmosphere beautiful (I love the ceilings), the food is a little bland and there's not enough of it. I had the Pittypanna, the signature hash with potatoes, beef, carrots, and ONE poached egg & a side of sliced tomatoes. For $9, I wanted more for breakfast fare. I officially rename it as the Pittypayingfornotmuchfood. I also tried the Norwegian waffles ($8 and change) that were smaller than an Eggo. I have to knock down the rating because I was still hungry after eating my food and picking off two others. Recommend if... A) You have had your stomach stapled. Perfect portions! B) It's "the morning after" and you think you have a chance to actually score a date, perfect setting to impress. I'm sure she's a winner! C) You don't like the idea of eating two Denny's Original Grand Slam breakfasts (three on your birthday) for $9. Because eating THAT is an accomplishment worth noting! D) You want to check for me if they actually changed the dish name to Pittypayingfornotmuchfood for me. In that case, I owe you one:)

What a great find. I had the omelet special, chorizo, feta and avocado was a great combination. I would say the best omelet I have ever had. The Lavazza coffee was delicious. Great, friendly service. The place is busy on the weekend, but worth a wait.

Very nice! I am Norwegian and of course find it impossible to have traditional Norwegian food -unless I make it. While this restaurant caters to American tastes, there are some great Scandinavian finds here -albeit toned down a bit. Be a little adventurous, try the Scandinavian breakfast or the open-faced sandwich platter. You won't be disappointed :)

My husband and i stumbled upon this little gem, this past summer during one of our MANY house hunting trips to the area. I'm a carnivore, and my hubby is a vegitarian, so it can make eating out somewhat of a challenge. This place has a little something for both. Service is good, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed sitting outside, people watching as we ate. All in all, a great little place to grab a good bite to eat.

The food was tasty, the atmosphere excellent and the wait staff attentive. I, unfortunately, ordered the Jule Kake french toast which was a fairly small portion. My date ordered a two egg breakfast which I thought was going to be much smaller but actually turned out to have a larger portion size. It might be worth asking the wait staff what the portion sizes are. The food was all good, just not a huge value for the money.

Finn's is okay--I'd like to try it again and see if I have a better experience. I went with my brother's family, including two little kids, and I'm tempted to order from the kid's menu next time. Their portions were just as big as the adult sizes and just as tasty (if not more so). I got the Jule Kake french toast and it was all right (just fine--nothing special). I think I'd get the vegetable eggs benedict next time. I got to try a bite of my sister-in-law's dish, and I liked it more than my french toast. The price for everything was about right, though. Be sure to get there early on the weekends--it fills up quickly.

I can't believe I had never tried this place before. My husband and I went twice in a week after having breakfast there the first time. I love the family-run feel, free (good) coffee while you wait and overall high-quality atmosphere. I was simply pleased from beginning to end. The menu has some unique options. I would definitely order the Norwegian Waffles again (but probably not the Jule Kake French Toast). The service was very good. I have no complaints and we will be back!

I'm into feeling that a sweet Nordic vixen, or an earthy Nordic mama, is helping me start my day. They got the vibes, they got the food. Don't be alarmed by the large-plate (gourmet trickery) thing -- the portions are fine, hearty enough, and I always leave in a good mood. Get the Scandinavian offerings, though - that's the whole point. If you're complaining about having ordered the American food, you've only got yourself to blame.

  • Fae L.

Love Finn's Cafe! We go there once a year on my little girl's birthday. The French toast is super yummy. Husband got the traditional breakfast -eggs, thick and crispy bacon, toast, pancakes etc. Service was and is always excellent. Facility is always, always immaculate. Very bright and fresh.

I was very impressed with Finn's. It ways busy, but the service was exceptionally efficient and non-obtrusive. They had a unique and diverse menu with many Scandinavian entrees. I went traditional with egg on rye toast with bacon. The bacon was perfect and plentiful. The iced white mocha was too sugary for me with its whip cream and syrup. The prices for meals was $7-12 or so. I went mix and match ala carte and with the mocha it was just shy of $12 all told.

  • Jeff H.

Went here for breakfast recently. It's a bit overpriced: $9 for sausage, eggs, and hash browns. They do have a heavily Nowegian- themed menu...if that's your thing. The atmosphere is nice and simple with local art hanging on the walls. I will try it for lunch sometime, but I suspect that the food is not far enough beyond what I can make at home to justify their prices.

Meh. The food was ok and my server was really slow and spoke so softly I had a hard time hearing him. Great atmosphere, though. I may give it another shot, but I'm not in a hurry.

  • Charli G.

Heard great things about this place but was disappointed. Way over priced and the service wasn't very good. The server continued to forget things and ignore requests for straws for my kids. Portions were very small and it just wasn't worth it. I won't be going back again.

I have never had Scandinavian food before and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Norsk Omllete and it was delicious. Do not plan to spend too much time catching up with friends because they will shoo you way once you have finished your meal. Perhaps we should have ordered dessert in order to keep the table but it was a bit annoying to have the waitress constantly asking if we were done. The food was good but be prepared to leave as soon as you have finished!

The propriator rocks, heidi? Knows her stuff. Good food, don't care so much for our server that last visit. Thin,gray/blond dutchboy haircut lady probably just wasn't in the game that day. Tried to hurry us out without coffee refills, and succeeded in clearing my husbands gaspatcho about halfway thru. Didn't mention it at the time because owner came past, ask if we would like more coffee, and sold us a delicious danish, our meal was asupperior bacon, eggs toast,. Chicken, peppers sandwich, atoken taste of good gaspatcho soup with avacado. Food, good. Service, be alert!

I like Finn's but I will probably stick with my favorite (the Park) more often than this place. Finn's, like several other breakfast places is walking distance to my home so I do have a chance to visit here more often and I find the breakfasts to be very good and consistent and the crowd to be a little more upscale and dressed up than other breakfast places. It is a good place to take your older, not so outdoorsy more big citified friends when they visit. The portions are smaller here than other places and you pay more for it, but you are paying for a more upscale environment when you eat here. Somebody has to pay for the modern decor and big remodel that this place required to change it over from a pizza place.

LOVE Finn's. The service and atmosphere help cap off their amazing diner style food that is consistently good. Grab a mocha with your breakfast!

  • Dominic R.

The downside first: you have to wait. But there is a reason for that. The food is delicious. And they give you free coffee while you wait. The food is fancy diner fare, the sourdough bread was amazing. I thought the portion sizes were perfectly normal, stop whining you salad dodgers or order more food.

A Swedish diner with a great menu and even greater atmosphere. Waitresses in red checkered aprons, diner style interior, and patio seating in the warmer months. Try the French toast on cinnamon bread or the egg white omelet if you're wanting something healthy. They also have great fresh squeezed juices and smoothies. Trade the jam for lingonberries with your toast for a more Swedish experience.

This is a great place. Big Bowl of apples as you walk in the door, grab one and eat it while you're finding your table. Seating is .... seat yourself. I usually have the Scandanavian Breakfast (trout, eggs, hash brown, toast). Always meets my expectations. Not large portions, but more than sufficient portions. And the food is always clean, fresh, and very flavorful. Eggs Benedict are very good and so are the waffles. Keep in mind they open around 7:30 am and close around 2:30 pm. So it's a breakfast and lunch spot. And.. the price is always right and the service is responsive and considerate. This place is a gem.

A very good first visit to Finns. The coffee really is top notch, didn't even add much cream or sugar to make a perfect cup. It's expensive at nearly $3, but if you drink 8 cups it's less than 40¢ a cup so a win/win there. I built my own omelette with cheddar, bacon and mushroom. It comes more calazone style than rolled (name for this?) just like the Original Pancake House. It was good. Hashbrowns were fine, sourdough toast was awesome; really fine sourness. Wife had chicken and waffles. Waffle is dense and sweet, and the chicken is a fried patty. It comes with table syrup. Overall, she liked it and was very happy. Service was great. Refills on coffee were mostly prompt and the people were friendly. Even a guy just walking around refilling coffee asked if we were enjoying the patio, which we were. Excellent place to sit outside and eat, sheltered by greenery. Wasn't too busy on Sunday morning around 8:30am, but was starting to fill out more around 9:30am when we left. Great place, I'm definitely coming back for more.

Great service, cool pretty place, very clean and with a cool menu. Had breakfast. Chicken and Waffle was cool because it had strawberries and this yummy cream, but i was bummed the pancakes had cinnamon in them, which I personally didnt like eating with my chicken. The chicken was great. Also had the eggs Benedict and it was delish, but wish it had been a bit warmer and more hash browns, because dem hasbrowns were goooood. Coffee was great, and our waters were always filled. Honestly everything was cool, just wish they had served more food in their plates.

Can't believe it took me so long to stumble upon this place. Came in for lunch and left full, happy and looking forward to my next visit. I had the fried chicken with a salad for my meal. The salad was great and the house rosemary vinaigrette dressing...delicious! The rosemary was subtle and was perfect with the balsamic. The chicken was cooked great, but I think it could have used a little salt. Other than that, I was very happy with my meal. Although I didn't try them, the specials sounded amazing and I'll probably be trying those the next time.

If you look at my review from a year ago, I was brutal. I hated Finn's.... but now I am a regular patron, going 1-3 times a week depending on how much money I made over the weekend. The staff is ridiculously friendly, so easy to talk to, and if a mistake is made they handle it with ease. I once made a comment about how the fries tasted different, like maybe the grease hadn't been changed in a while, and they were so apologetic I got a discount (that I tried to fight, but to no avail). The food is pricey, that's for sure. But it's worth it. The steak and eggs are my favorite, closely followed by all of the pasta of the days. Make sure to ask for the little cheez-it things they bring before your food comes out. Oh and if the soup of the day is the cheesy cauliflower do not pass it up. it's fantastic!

There is a lot to like about this place, and the food is decent. I like how open and well-lit the restaurant is. We sat right down for lunch around 1 PM on Saturday, no wait. The service was friendly. And now the food: I had the Scandinavian breakfast, as this had been recommended to me by a friend. The fish was a little overcooked and chewy as a result, but the flavor was good. The butter they put on there is very tasty. The eggs were cooked well and made for a nice sandwich with the accompanying toast. The hash browns were decent. This particular breakfast was one of the pricier items, on account of the fish. That said, all the items were a little pricy for the amounts offered. The steak and eggs breakfast looked pretty tasty, too, and the person I was with said it was quite tasty. So all in all, a solid breakfast destination. Oh, the outdoor patio looked great! We stayed inside to stay out of the direct sun, but it looked great out there.

This is a cafe in SLC that we have been wanting to taste test for quite some time. One Sunday, our wheels took us to Finns. I was quite surprised at the crowd that gathered in their waiting area but luckily we did not have to wait very long. (Service was great). Pondering the menu I choose the Eggs Benedict and my husband choose the Steak and eggs. Both came rather quickly but gave us time to enjoy the outdoor neighborhood feel of the cafe, chat while sipping our coffee and mimosa's. I was satisfied with our meal but later that day my husband complained that he was not feeling well and attributed this to his meal since that's all he ate up to that point. Something just didn't agree with him. However we both agreed. the atmosphere (hometown local cafe) coupled with the friendly staff and fair food gives this place for us a 3 star rating. Overall the price was really not any more costly than most other cafe's in town roughly 35$ for a late Sunday breakfast plus tip. I would recommend to any local or visiting patron.

Finn's has the feel of a trendy breakfast joint mixed with an old diner run for many years by a jolly man named Finn, who just so happens to look a lot like Santa Claus (his wife, I think) looks like Mrs. Claus! I've only had their eggs benedict and salmon eggs benedict, both of which are very tasty! Their portions are just right for breakfast - not too much to leave you bloated and yearning for a nap but also not too little to leave you wondering where the nearest fast food place is. I'll definitely be returning the next time I'm in town for one of the best breakfast in SLC!

Finns is just the cutest little breakfast place. Sometimes I will go there multiple times a week to get my fix. The service is a bit slow at times but that is because the owners take time to walk around and see how everyone is enjoying the food, as you can't beat the feeling of being right at home here. I always order the eggs Benedict now but having had pretty much everything on the menu I have to say their burgers are my second favorite!

This is a great breakfast place with an "on vacation" feel to it. I love the staff, seeing the owners on site and the care that they put into their business is refreshing. The meals never disappoint and there are some very unique dishes that make for a great dining experience.

Went here for a birthday breakfast. I'm glad I got there right when they opened because this place fills up fast! They didn't squeeze people in either, there was enough room between the table and chairs to slide in and out and not bother the next person behind you (that was my first like). We had very friendly staff, who were hip, and had great white outfits on. What a refreshing change! The white really sets the place apart. Our server was very cute too. and friendly. The bathrooms were old style and clean, Modern in design. There is art on the walls for sale, glass collages that add a nice unique touch. The food was good too. A little on the medium end. I got the pittypanna, which was beef tidbits, potatoes, and carrots. It came with toast, tomato slices and a poached egg on top. It was lightly seasoned. Went great with ketchup provided. They had raspberry jam, seed in, which was also great. This was a nice little place. I'd recommend it if you're into good food at a little higher price ($10 for mine) that seems to be done in house. Worth the pay for the great service and atmosphere.

I tried their Wienerschnitzel which is beef, and was tender and tasty. They prepare it with a brown stock sauce which is different than the traditional German/Austrian standard that is veal, and just served with lemon. Obviously veal is baby cattle, but the flavors are different. This is a nice casual spot with indoor and outdoor seating and off street parking. The staff is very attentive. Prices are reasonable.

Best breakfast in Salt Lake, hands down. Why does the staff wear all white? Because they're freaking angels sent to this earth to bring us that sacred slice of heaven which we humans call "breakfast." My favorite thing on the menu is the Eggs Benedict, because this place knows how to cook eggs correctly... Unlike other places in the city which have the word EGGS in it! Finn's hollandaise sauce is the literal definition of perfection. Tears of joy, people, tears! Other things to try: the omelette of the day and the Norwegian waffles. Don't miss out on their coffee or fresh fruit as a substitute for toast.

This place is nearly perfect, it's always very clean, the food is consistent and the service is always great. Our most recent server was Sedona, her smile and friendliness just cemented my love for this place. To be fare every server there has been fantastic. The food is always fast and fresh. The other great thing about Finns is the outdoor patio. There is no better way to start your day with the nice weather than breakfast in the sunshine.

The building is unique and interior is very nice. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is pretty normal and typical of what you would see for breakfast & Lunch. But once in awhile they have something amazing on special like Ahi-Ahi Fish & Chips. The presentation is clean and simple. Bottome line is they have good food (even if its just simple) at a reasonable price.

I appreciate the concept of scandinavian food as brunch as well as the fresh-squeeze OJ i needed for the hangover, (as well as the perfectly cooked thin, buttered asparagus) but a side of lingonberry does not make it Swedish, and my chicken was dry. Where was the sauce? Oh, you don't eat sauce with your wienerschnitzel in Scandinavia? Tsk, tsk. Oh yeah... Wienerschnitzel is not eaten in Scandinavia!

The breakfast was pretty good, but I wouldn't say it was worth the price. I will say however that I am going to give them another chance for lunch. I'm dying to find out how their weinerschnitzle is. The wait staff was lovely and the decor was light and clean.

Thanks, Yelp, for the tip. The interior of this cafe made me happy. White walls, blonde wood and unsually-shaped windows with rounded window corners make for bright, cheery brunch happiness. The waitstaff are dressed all in white and are pleasant and efficient. The food is fine - I believe I had some sort of eggs benedict with fresh fruit. My friends and I all shared the french toast which was fabulous.

Why "Finn's"? TWO guys named Finn and a gal named Heidi run it, duh. See, it's cute already. Apparently, this place is a remodeled incarnation of a cafe that opened up in the 50s, but still serve basically the same Scandinavian fare. I stumbled in for breakfast and had myself what they call a Scandinavian Breakfast. Was it, really? I dunno, never had such a thing before. But this plate of poached fish and eggs with rye left me regretting that I didn't order something from the "Finn's Specialties" section of the menu like I thought to do at first. Like maybe the Norwegian pancakes (served with lingonberry -- saw many others order this), or even something called Pyttipanna, I think a Swedish take on hash, except it's potatoes and meat in small pellet-sized cubes. Naaah, pancakes; side of sausage. My breakfast companion neglected to order from the specialties section too, sadly. Instead, the vegetarian he is, he got himself a Pesto Tofu Scramble. Um -- pesto, tofu, eggs: it was as nasty to me as it sounded, but my vegetarian bro seemed to enjoy it. Whatever man. Finn's was worth a try, but I don't think I'd come back if I were in town again. Or next time, definitely the Norsk pancakes.

Finns is a staple for Kathy and I. My favorite is the BLT on sourdough. She loves the Roquefort (blue cheese) salad dressing, they freeze it. All the servers wear white. Oh, how I love white. Family owned since forever. And, in the summer they have a fun patio. Easy fair, simple menu.

Being from Vegas, you would think I am used to good food and service. Findipng Finns in Salt Lake City was a pleasant surprise. Vegas does have breakfast houses but none like Finn's. I had the Nork Omellet, which included shrimp, capers, and havarti cheese.THE DELICIOUS omelet was accompanied by yummy hashbrown and toast (I ordered sourdough). The jam placed on each table probably changes seasonally, we were fortunate to have rasberry, it was amazing! The service was attentive and the owners work the tables and sear people. Overall an exceptional experience. I will make my way to Finn's everytime I'm in SLC.

This is my sure fire regular spot! Every time the food is served cheerfully, fast, with just plain simple quality. It all adds up to near perfect every time.

Breakfast and Lunch; Scandinavian menu. Norwegian waffles with lingonberries and sour cream are amazing. The fruit smoothies are delectable. If Swedish meatballs are available, I highly recommend them. This place is tiny. There can be a long wait on weekends, especially if the patio is closed due to inclement weather. Inside tends to be noisy (lots of bare wood and glass). Remember to help yourself to an apple as you leave.

Pretty good food. Supposely it's northern European, Swedish, I guess. I didn't try the lingonberrie sauce this time but my omlette was pretty good with lots of avocado in it but didn't like their hash, just too dry. Servers were nice however.

I love Finn's. I usually get the schnitzel, which is fork-tender and served with delightful little potatoes. The entrees come with either soup or salad. I love their blue cheese dressing and usually order the salad specifically for the dressing. The blue cheese is frozen, and for some reason frozen blue cheese tastes better than room temperature. My husband usually gets the steak and eggs, which are consistently good. I've had almost everything on the menu, and I've enjoyed everything with the exception of the sourdough pancakes (I just didn't like the sourdough flavor as a pancake, but there was nothing wrong with the preparation). The atmosphere is sunny and inviting. The staff is friendly and fast without making you feel rushed. I've never had to wait there, but we usually go earlier in the morning. I was surprised to see people complain about the portions and prices. The portions are not huge, but I always leave full. I think the pricing is fair - this isn't a dive diner. You're paying for the whole experience, not just eggs. My only complaint is the menu is limited and doesn't change. Still, what they do serve is very well prepared.

Went for breakfast with my girlfriend. Server was nice, atmosphere was nice. We both had a omelette, quite tasty but skimpy on the ingredients. It was 25 bucks for breakfast for the two of us, and I thought it was a bit steep for what it was. Probably will not go back due to the prices.

my bf and i are from nyc and are huge brunch people, and finn's didn't disappoint. there was a bit of a wait (20 mins) on sunday around noon which wasn't bad at all. environment is a bit more trendy for slc, really bright with big windows, and finn was right behind the counter eggs benedict was pretty good, the yolks were slightly overcooked but i didn't notice too much since the holondaise sauce was absolutely delish. bf had the omelette special with chorizo, avocado, peppers, and some other goodies which was also very good. loved the hash browns too, really crispy and not greasy at all. the fresh squeezed OJ was also really great. serivce was very good, heidi was extremely attentive, and she didn't even charge us for the extra english muffin and jam she brought out (i got jealous that my bf had one and i didn't). will def come back again

I heard good things about this place and I think they lived up to my expectations. I got to taste everyone's meal at my table. The waffles were tasty and the meatball soup was amazing! I got the sandwich platter, Yum! The staff was also very friendly. We got free dessert just for being our own obnoxious, silly selves. The only con... Portions are a bit small by American standards. It's worth a try!
